.NET Messenger Service

How do I disable NET Messenger Service?

Apparently my system has NET Messenger Service some how running "Invisibly
In-The-Background" showing all my online MSN contacts that I am online ...
although I receive a little pop-up indicating when my contacts are online >
there is NO visible means for me to contact or chat with my MSN contacts
with NET Messenger Service running invisibly in the background ...

For me to contact or chat with my online MSN contacts I have to start MSN
Messenger ... when I do so, I see a little popup indicating "You have been
signed out of .NET Messenger Service because you signed in at another
location."

Any assistance in this would be greatly appreciated...
Thanks!

SeaJay,

The .Net Messenger service uses Windows Messenger to log on to the MSN
Messenger service that you know and love. The MSN Messenger client that you
open signs on to the same MSN Messenger service.

So it appears that you have the Windows Messenger client running and I'm
guessing that it's hidden in your tray. Next to the clock where the icons
are, click the arrow facing towards the start button. There should be a
little blue Messenger icon there. Double click it to open it up. Then go
to the Tools menu and click the Preferences tab. Uncheck 'Run Windows
Messenger when Windows starts' and 'Allow Windows Messenger to run in the
background'.

This will make it so that Windows Messenger won't start up with your
computer and when you open MSN Messenger you won't get a 'signed in
elsewhere' notice.

Hey there....

I had a similiar problem, only other apps kept on "disappearing" from the
notifications bar as well..

See any of the emails in here titled "fixing notifications area".

If think below is the link.... (it takes you to the right page anyway) :)

Download, un-zip, and then run the tool at...
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/taskbarplus!.htm
(Repair/Customize Quick Launch, Taskbar and Notification Area)

It seems to clean a few buggy bugz in the notification bar :)

cheers

Another profile is logged in using the same account.
