.NET Framework ?

When trying to download the .NET Framework it gave me this error message:

error 1406
Could not write value export to key\System\currentcontrolset\services\.NET
Data
provider for a Sqlserver\linkage.

Verify that you have sufficient access to that key. or contact your support
personnel.


( What does this mean?) I am so clueless.............
I was running an update on a program that requires the .NET Framework and
the update downloaded but I was unable to install it. A tech from the
program said I didn't have the .NET framework setup and needed to download
it. I tried and I was unsuccessful and that's how I ended up here. Someone
please help!!1

were you download and run instead of download and save?

I would normally donwload and asve in a user ID, then login as admin. to
install

Did you ever get a response to your question here? I have the same problem.
I have administrator rights and it doesn't matter whether I install by
selecting run or saving the file and then running it.
