Dear sirs,
I have to build a program for supervision of a small plant. Basically the sw
is very simple, acquire data via serial port, and display some trends.
My intention is to build this program in c# using dot net 1.1 or 2.0

Concerning the hardware, my boss like the idea to install the program in a
thin client hardware (cheap than a computer, more reliable, no hd, no fan,
etc.) instead of a standard pc.
I have tested some thin clients (hp5700 for example), but no one comes with
dot net installed. I have tried to install it, but 256 mb of flash is not
enough to run the installer (even if /T is used).
Also i want to stick with a 'standard' hw solution, since I have very little
knowledge of XPe.
My question is: there is some thin client hardware that comes with dot net
already preinstalled ? If I buy a 512 mb flash thin client can I install dot
net 1.1 (and 2.0 ?)

I apologize is this is the wrong group to post this kind of question, but
really I need some info on the subject ...
Any input apreciated ... Thanks in advance for your help,
Best regards,
A.

Thanks for the info. I read the pdf ... is very interesting, but seem to me
that build a custom image of XPe require some deep knowledge that I
dont'have.
Anyway I can try ... Just some question:
Where can I find the tools discussed in the article ? I have a msdn
subscripton, but i find none...
The XPe license is still valid If I but an hp thin client and build a custom
XPe image ?
Thanks in advance,
A.

It might be easier to get one of the ThinClient manufacturers to build the image for you.

You would have to go to a distributor to get the full licensed tools and inquire about licensing.
