Do you have a RAID system? 2 hard drives that mirror each other?
Vista woudln't let me load, until I loaded the raid drivers for my computer.
That is the only time I have seen Vista ask for drivers.
Your best bet is to call Microsoft, they will help you with the install for
free.

You need to provide more information to help the folks here help you. What
is the computer and configuration? What kind of and how many hard drives?
ATA or SATA? How are they partitioned? Where is XP installed? With that
start, then describe step by step what you have tried to do, and what
happens along the way.
