need IDE 5.25 floppy drive

Like two serial ports, we are now starting to see support
for the second one dropped in the latest chipsets.

At the very least, dropping support for the 2nd floppy saves a pin
on an ASIC, and sometimes those are in short supply. If they rework
the FDC block in the ASIC, then they might save a couple of gates,
but that seems hardly worth the effort.

It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral
busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his
cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our
own good will torment us without end, for they do so with the approval
of their consciences. -- C. S. Lewis

I doubt that was the reason.

Or that.

Yes , but the total may be, dropping the
second floppy and the second serial port,
and increasing the number of USB ports etc.
