POP3 is not a valid server name. Ask your mail provider what the settings
should be.

POP3 is not a valid server name. Try Comcast's instructions for setting up
to use their email servers:

<http://www.comcast.net/help/faq/index.jsp?faq=Emailtop17686&cookieattempt=1>

They don't seem to have written instructions for Windows Mail yet, so use
their instructions for Outlook Express but under Windows Mail instead.
I suggest you avoid the One Click Fix, though.

thank you so much in advance for help... I put the following...
Incoming mail (POP3)---mail.comcast.net

Outgoing mail (SMPT)---smpt.comcast.net
but there are still errors...
The connection to the server has failed. Subject 'test 1234', Account:
'Windows Mail', Server: 'smtp.comcast.net', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25,
Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

Does your connection to those servers go though another internet
provider's equipment before it gets to comcast.net? If so, such
connections to port 25 are often blocked to cause trouble for
spammers.

No, it doesn't. The connection comes directly to our house... we do have a
wireless-G Broadband router... would that be a problem?

I did try 587 for outgoing mail and that it work...gave me an error message
something with 500 in the error... thanks

Right-click on the error message, copy, then paste it into a reply here.

Make sure you have enabled the option "My server requires authentication."
That is mandatory when using port 587.
