I have filesharing enabled for my c and d drive. program files is access
denied on c drive. why? i do not have simple filesharing on or even
enabled/checked in the folder options etc. i enable filesharing so the
entire 100% of the drive is accessible to anyone on my lan without the
need for a password, but can't access the programs folder and a couple
others. how do i fix this?

If you set up a password on the account you are using for access across the
network, does this fix the issue?

You can change this restriction, following the procedure posted here:

http://www.theeldergeek.com/blank_password_network_access.htm

There ARE VERY GOOD REASONS, however, for the initial restriction. There
are a number of viruses which spread via network shares and you may be
making this much easier.

I'm not worried about viruses since i am not infected nor have i ever
been. and i run firewall and NAV. meaning i have router etc.

all i have is the user of the pc. set to fileshar the c and d drive. the
user is ask for password so remote desktop can be used, but on the lan,
there's no question asking you to log in.

Bill, try what?
The host has the 1 user who is admin. dan/dan. when i set up filesharing
i think the first time i tried to connect from my own pc, client, i
typed in the user info, saved it check box. since then i have disabled
simple filesharing and re fileshared. when i log in i am not asked for a
password. i can not access the program files folder still.
Hmm - let's see if I have this right.

Host has simple file sharing disabled. Host has a single user, admin
dan/dan.

You connect across a network from another machine, logged in as dan/dan and
you cannot access the program files folder?
