Need Help Installing XP !

I successfully installed XP on my Dell. But now I am
trying to install it on my HP computer. It gets part way
and says the following..

Technical Information

It suggest to run a CHKDSK /F on the hard drive to check
for errors. But i have no idea how to do that. Or does the
info above help ?

Backup Files Found

Microsoft DirectX 9.0

Windows XP SP1 and Windows Server 2003 from

It looks like you will need to format your HD. Startup
your computer with the Startup floppy in the drive. After
it starts, at the a prompt type format/c:. It will wipe
out ALL data so backup the files you want to keep before
you start this process. If it will not format, do an
fdisk & delete current partition. Startup computer with
the XP CD in drive. It will do what needs to be done.
Remember ALL data will be wiped out.
