need help for my satelitte4090cds

Since a few months I have a Toshiba satellite 4090cds laptop, running fine.
Now there is hardly anything vissible on the LCD screen. Seems there is too
less light on it. Is there anybody who can give me an idea what can be
wrong? The unit is running on windows 95 and, although is is difficult to
see, I can see that everything runs fine, except the lightning of the LCD
Screen.
Please help!
Many thansk in advance

It is one of the cold-cathode fluorescent lamp (CCFL), the high voltage
inverter that powers the lamp, or the power cable supplying the
inverter. It is difficult, largely impossible, to change out the lamp
unless you can find the *exact* part number replacement and the lamp can
be removed from the LCD panel. It is easier to find a replacement LCD
on eBay. The inverter is located (usually) in the space between the
hinges in the LCD and is fairly easy to replace, provided you can find a
replacement on eBay. You should be able to use an external monitor.

Given the age of the laptop, you are likely to be in the market for a
replacement.
