Hello,
Could some one provide or direct me to where I can find a driver for
the HP laserjet 3100 printer for windows XP. Thanks in advance

Thanks for the responses, but I have tried that already. The best I can
determine is that HP does not provide a driver since they no longer
manufacture it any more. I would hope though that it would not be too
difficult to find 1 some where, since the printer is only 8 years old.

Your reasoning is flawed. An 8-year old printer in the tech world is
ancient. It doesn't matter that it still works. Unless you want to hire a
programmer to write drivers for this printer for your operating system,
there won't be any "some where".

You can buy a new basic laser printer that will be far better than the old
one for under $200. You have to accept the fact that not all hardware is
supported under all operating systems and move on. I'm sorry that this is
not what you wanted to hear.

Try using the built-in XP HP laser printer drivers, one at
a time, until you find out what works.

It'll probably be lacking some of the 3100-specific
features, but one of them will get you going.

Why were the links of no use?

In case you still think HP does not have a driver, read the support
document at http://tinyurl.com/3yhpa

Hello Robert
I saw that as well - I assumed he was talking about that when he said he got
a negative.
This one might also have something

Does he know how to Google I wonder ;-)

I believe it is its 10th anniversary this year as a concept idea - it seems
it has been here for ages.
But 1997 was the big launch I think. Or was the year after. Perhaps I
should Google to find out ;-) ;-)

Well, I downloaded the software update & when I try to open it I get an
error message that stated it cannot be installed on my machine.

A few here have suggested that I get a new printer. It so happens that
I have a new Epson printer that does not work because they rigged it to
where it would need new ink cartridges after very little use -
resulting in a pending class action law suit.

All of this is not worth the hassle, I think I will do without a
printer alltogether.

The installation problem is explained in the HP document. The driver is
not Microsoft certified which means nothing. Just continue with the
installation as instructed by HP.

And by the way, quote error messages correctly when you get them and
make sure you read directions for software.
