NavExcel removal

Hello, All.
Here's my problem. I seem to have the infamous NavExcel toolbar "helper" on
my PC. I run Spybot, AdAware, MS Antispyware and Spyware Blaster, along with
AVG and Sygate. EVERY time I boot up, MS AS tells me NavExcel is trying to
install, do I want to allow or remove? Natch, I click Remove, and sure as
shootin', it does it again next time. I have gone over several websites for
this, and they all say to remove "NavHelper" via Add/Remove Programs. Only
problem is, it ain't there. Nor do I have a Programs folder for it. HELP!!
Thanks,
Chuck

My bad, Rock. Had to fight this for a client just over the weekend. Funny
(or not so), how these are so easy to install, yet takes a registry user to
remove.(

lol...are you ever really bad? Yes this one is ugly.

Thanks all for the help, guys (and gals). Only problem is, nothing does any
good. None of the specified registry entries or files that I should remove to
get rid of it are even on my machine! Went down the list line by line;
nothing. It's not actually RUNNING--as I said earlier, there is no NavExcel
in Task Manager, or Add/Remove Programs. None of the .exe or .dll or other
files are resident. But it somehow keeps trying to INSTALL itself. Is there a
particular installer file I should be looking for, maybe masquerading as
something else?

Try booting into Safe Mode and running MS Anti-Spyware from there.

Have one better, try removing spool.exe. It literary disappears and
refreshes within split seconds before you eyes, so quickly that you can not
end the process via the Task Manager in normal mode. Thought it so unique,
I saved it for awhile as a challenge game.)

Never dealt with that one. Hope I don't have to.

Another option is to try the windows installer clean up utility:

No soap. The uninstaller cleanup finds no reference to NE. I finally got
tired of it and told it to install, thinking that maybe once it was in there,
my spyware apps would actually find it. Well, that seemed to work. I ran an
MSAS scan, and it picked it up sure enough. All's well, right? WRONG! Now
it's back where it was before. EVERY time it starts up, MSAS tells me it's
trying to install, asks if I want to remove it, I say yes, MSAS says it was
successfully removed, and I compute on my merry way (usually to ebay). Next
time, here we go again. AAAAAUUUGGHHH!!
Pleasepleasepleasepleaseplease help meeeee!!

The only thing I can suggest at this point is run hijackthis and post
the log to one of the speciality forums that deal with malware:
