My taskbar is stuck

About a week ago, my task bar stoped auto hideing, and started staying
visable, despite having the auto hide feature enabled in the properties.

I have tried toggeling the auto hide off and on, and that works until the
next time I select something from the task bar, then it stays visable again
until I go in to task bar properities toggle it off and on again.

How do I get it to work properly?

After doing your changes select the check box for Lock taskbar or right
click the taskbar and select Lock taskbar, does this help.

OTOH, it did give me an idea.

I have my machine set up so all I have to do, is hit a button on my key
board, and it will automaticaly shut it down, with out my having to bring up
the task bar to do so.

So the next time I went through the process, of un selecting auto hide, then
selecting it, I hit the shut down button after the task bar was hidden, and
that saved the setting, as it shut down. When I powered back up, it worked
just fine.


Some how, when I was bringing up the task barto shut down before, it would
lock iit into place, when and when I shut down the computer it would save
that setting, despite what was selescted in the properties.

Go figure.
