My task pane has disappeared!

I believe I have Excel 2000. Is Excel 9.0 the same as
2000?

Anyway, when I open Excel I am supposed to have a task
pane to the right of the worksheet, but all I have is the
worksheet filling the screen. I have opened the view
list but task pane is not listed! What should I do to
get the task pane back?? I am taking a course in Excel
and can't go one without the task pane.

Thanks!

As answered at your other post:

The Task Pane was introduced in Excel 2002 (version 10.0), so you won't
find it in your version.

There should be other ways to accomplish your tasks though, so if you
explain what you're trying to do, someone can probably help.
