My Pictures XP menu entry

Hi,

A friend has a problem with the above and so far I have not been able
to work out what is causing it, and so I am asking if anyone has had
the same problem and a fix.?

My same friend claimed that his computer was running slow when he went
into My Pictures. I tracked it down to just that, My Documents and
other entries on the menu work fine and very fast. I created a
shortcut which also works very fast. However the menu entry link for
My Pictures makes explorer.exe take the cpu for over 90% and does so
for 30 to 40 seconds or so.

AVG8 does not report any virus.

For now I've asked him to use my shorcut and removed the menu entry.
Is there a way I can replace the link in the menu with my shortcut ?,
or does anyone have a solution to this.?

TIA
Please remove obvious from email address if emailing.

I have the exact same problem. A shortcut works very fast-- I can quickly
open from within Photoshop Elements, as well. I can also open up an exact
copy of My Pictures almost instantly from my external drive.

Did you ever 'solve' your problem? How?

Howard

Maybe the following steps would be worth a try.

1) Open a folder that contains .jpg files...

2) Right click a .jpg file and choose Properties...

3) Click the Photoshop Image tab...

4) Uncheck the "Generate Thumbnails" button...

5) Click OK...

I have Photoshop Elements 6.0, not the full Photoshop CS program. I don't
get that tab when I right click on a jpg as an option.

Doesn't have to be the full version of Adobe.

I would say try the steps again...maybe on a
different file.

And maybe that's not even the problem.

Good luck.
