my hotmail acccount

someone is sending mail with virus attachments using my hotmail email account, not from my computer, and when my computer is off. How do I stop this, report this, and protect myself? I received a notification from Symantec that I had sent an email with a virus to someone I don't know. Then two weeks later mailer deamon notified me of an undeliverable email with dangerous attachement that supposedly came from me, again, to a different someone that I don't know. I am the only user on my computer, and it is not networked. I run Windows XP, have verizon with MSN DSL, and have had a .net passsport account for at least 3 years.

Nothing much you can do about it I'm afraid. But be
assured that no one is using your computer or Hotmail
account without your knowledge - a virus on someone
else's computer (probably someone you know and have
corresponded with in the past) is just spoofing your
address to hide it's origins.

This is a good article on the problem:

A virus is spoofing your e-mail address. It's NOT actually using your
Hotmail account to send the messages.
