My Documents "White"

G

Greg Andrew

I have a strange problem with a Windows XP Pro machine.
The My Documents folder text names are white. You cannot
see the file or folder names unless you click on one of
icons to highlight it. I have checked to make sure the
foreground color is not white and it is not. No other
folder is affected, not even folders under My Documents.
The only way around this is to set the background color to
something that offsets the white text color and then you
can see the file name. Anybody with information would be
appreciated.

Hi Greg,

Have you per chance changed the font of File/Edit/View....? If not and if
this was an upgrade, was the Documents folder customized before? Either
way, try resetting all folders under Tools/Folder Options and go to
Start/Run and type in: regsvr32 /i shell32

This was a preinstall by Dell. Have tried the resetting folders, but have
not tried the regsvr32 /i shell32. What does regsvr32 /i shell32 do?

Thanks

It resets large parts of the registry back to factory conditions. This is
how windows installs itself. It's how the original entry was placed into the
registry. Setup does a regsvr32 /i shell32.
