My Documents folder won't display - keeps seraching for items

I have Win XP pro with SP2 running smoothly for quite some time, but
yesterday a WinSCP session was terminated abnormally and since then my
explorer has been acting weird. If I double click on My Documents it will
launch and diplay the content of the folder, but if I move into a folder
with thumbnail view and back it freezes and starts searching for items
(stops responding and cpu goes to 100%). This doesn't seem to happen if I
move into a folder with details view - only thumbnail... Weird

It is very annoying of course - any suggestions

Regards

You should replace the explorer.exe file

1. Use the System File Checker tool to scan all of the protected files on
your computer:
a. Click Start, and then click Run.
b. In the Open box, type sfc /scannow, and then click OK.

Note that you may be prompted for the Windows XP or Windows XP Service Pack
1 or Windows XP Service Pack 2 installation media.

It will check for corrupted files ar else do Repair of XP
