My Documents error message

In My Computer I couldn't see My Documents folder system link. Could still
open My Documents from Start menu and via C:\Documents & Settings\UserName\My
Documents.
Using My Documents properties. tried the Microsoft instruction "How to
change the default location of the My Documents folder" by creating a new
folder in C:\ , but not moving the files. Worked fine - link appeared
Then tried to restore to default location by selecting "restore default" but
get error message "the target you specified cannot be used as a documents
folder"
Manually entering path brings same result.
When selecting Move and navigating to C:\Documents & Settings\UserName\My
Documents, the OK button is grayed out.
