befor I shut my computer off, I must have changes some setting, beceause when
windows started back up the desk top was too big for the monitor, but when I
would move my cursor to either side or to the bottom or top of the screen,
then the desktop would move, exposing the part of the desktop that I first
couldn't see. and this would work in all directions what ever way I moved the
cursor. The same way that t works you view a picture in a window when the
picture is too big.

Please help I hate this lol

thanx

resolution to any setting, it still is bigger than the screen. Oh yeah,
and also, it is in wide screen like in theaters.

If the mouse cursor does not disappear when you move it to the edge of
the screen but instead the desktop moves underneath (to expose more of
the desktop that was outside the physical boundary of the screen) then
it sounds like you have a desktop manager involved. It is making the
desktop bigger (to make it more visible to impaired users) than the
physical size of the monitor. Some desktop managers work by providing
you with multiple virtual desktops (so you can reduce how many
application windows are open and displayed within each virtual desktop).
You end up hopping around to the different virutal desktops. However,
some work by enlarging the size of the desktop. This doesn't reduce the
size of the windows relative to the desktop but gives impaired uses the
ability to see the desktop at a larger size than their monitor will
provide (the monitor is obviously fixed in its physical dimensions).

You might have 3rd party software effecting the oversized desktop. It
could be a "feature" of your video card's software. Is there an icon in
the system tray for your video card or a shortcut to a utility for your
video card in the Start menu? You might find it has a desktop feature
like you describe or you have simply not set the size of the desktop's
display to match the size of your screen.

This sounds like some type of magnifier program running. If you can't seem
to sort it you could try booting into Safe Mode (restart the computer and
keep tapping the F8 key until it boots to a menu that shows you a number of
options including Safe Mode which you select using the arrow keys and press
Enter.) From Safe Mode click the Start button and go to
Programs->Accessories->System Tools->System Restore. Use System Restore to
revert back to an earlier date. Only go back one day. Let System Restore do
it's thing and you should be restarted back to a point when the system was
running OK.
