my computer keeps shutting down.

Help!! Just bought this computer brand new ...and it
shuts off by itself so much. Error message says something
about IP address and compatibilty with hardware. Ihave
aOL i heard there are some gliches with that. Can anyone
help?

It would help to provide basic information such as what
Device Manager says, what is reported in system (event) logs,
and what beyond standard XP is installed in the machine. Is
it a brand name machine or some clone assembled by a third
party? If the later, then a long list of every hardware in
that system would help.

However if it is a new computer, then why is it not already
back at the retailer for replacement?
