Hello Craig,

If just hitting the enter key for your username at the Welcome screen
doesn't get you in (i.e. a blank), try starting in Safe Mode (F8 right
after he manufacturer's splash screen) and log into the Administrator
account - hopefully you haven't assigned a password for this (although
for safety you really should).
If you get in, go to Control Panel => User Accounts and select your
username. Remove any password.
If there is no password now, or you cleared it, and can now get in in
Normal Mode (try it a couple of times), go to Start => Run and type
in:
control userpasswords2 {with a space after control}
Uncheck the box 'Users must enter a user name and password to use this
computer'.

Assuming XP Home, restart in Safe Mode, log into the Administrator account
(no password), then control panel, users, and reset or remove the password
from your account. Restart in regular mode and try logging in.

If this is XP Pro, there are other concerns, and if you invoked encryption
(not available in XP Home) resetting the password from outside the account
can be a very, very bad idea.
