My CD Burner

When I was running Windows ME, my HP CD Writer Plus 8000 Series would work
just fine with 3rd party Software(Nero 6).
I make the move to XP and my CD Burner will play just fine, but not burn?
XP tells me that it will not load the drivers because of a instability
problem?
Can anyone help??

Please.

Mike.

I'm not familiar with the burner. Is it internal or external? (A quick look
at HP's website didn't turn up an 8000. There were 8100 and 8200 families,
for example.)

If it's an internal IDE device, it almost certainly needs no drivers other
than those built in to XP.

If you mean the burner software, Nero 6 should work fine in XP. (Memory
fails me, but I believe that one of the 5.x revisions was the earliest to
support XP. All subsequent versions should work.)

If you installed XP as an upgrade over ME, you may need to uninstall Nero
and install it again under XP.

(It might have been better to uninstall it before doing the upgrade. Better,
yet, I would have recommended using the Files and Settings Transfer Wizard
to capture most settings, and then doing a clean install of XP. That would
have required re-installing every application, of course.)

Good luck.
