My add or remove programs won't open

C

Curtis Widick

About a week ago, i downloaded a few thing that I don't
need anymore. So I went to remove the program from the
control panel and when I click on the add or remove
programs button it doesn't open. I tried to right click
and select open, but still nothing. The odd thing here is
that it doesn't even try to open it. nothing happens, i
can just double-click all day and nothing happens. No
error messages, no cannot open because, just won't open.
If anyone can help please send me some things to try @
(e-mail address removed). please help it's slowing my computer
down bad!!!

I take it that you have tried to run SFC short for System File Check.
You need to have the win2000 disk in the drive to pick up the files.

Sometimes a mouse go wrong, have you tried single click and ENTER.

If you really are in trouble, do have a look at this

a more common cause is that the deinstall program code is corrupt or the
registry deinstall string is flawed - check the event viewer. this is
usually caused by bad programming/testing. it can be very difficult to
remove unwanted applets which have these problems!
i always keep norton ghost images of my system drives (haven't got/don't
need raid at home) so i can "go back" to a known working system partition

Curtis, If you're still having the same problem, as I am., also try MS Doc #
266668.
If you have done an IE upgrade this can cause the same problem..

Sorry wrong Number, should have been 303399 for the IE related problem.
266668 is just the installed programs wont display. Not your problem I
think.
