Must uninstall wireless NIC after reboot

Hello group,

I'm having trouble with a new Sony notebook running Vista Home Premium. The
wireless card is an Intel 3945ABG. This system has been operational for a
few months without this symptom.

This wireless card will not detect networks after a reboot. To see them
again the NIC driver has to be uninstalled in device manager and reinstalled.

I can't see any errors in event viewer and the device looks normal even when
it's not working. The wireless switch (physical) is on. I get the same thing
in safe mode as in normal mode.

The only application change was an install of iTunes. That install had
problems and has since been removed along with Quicktime.

I suspect a flaky NIC. Has anyone else had a similiar experience?

Just an update.

In troubleshooting I installed another wireless card (usb in this case).
Now the problem has gone away for the original card. I had
removed/reinstalled drivers for the problematic NIC to no avail. I am
guessing installing a completely new NIC installed/refreshed something in the
wireless config.

I'm running it with just the original NIC now and it's happy with that.

Go figure.
