Must kill IE in Task manager

Ever since I got rid of the Qhosts worm, I've had to kill
Internet explorer with the task manager after exiting
Internet explorer. In other words, after exiting IE it
still shows as a process in the task manager. Many other
programs won't respond until I kill IE using the task
manager. What registry setting or dll did I wipe out to
deserver this?
I'm using XP professional (up to date on patches and such)
on a Dell Pent 4 2.6 Mhz with 1 Gig ram. Also on a Novell
network with latest drivers and patches.

I'm getting the same problem with XP home edition,
sometimes several IE processes are running. if you find
something please let me know as i've been looking for a
while. thanx
