Music track won't play unless on desktop

Help! I have a music track attached to a presentation that plays fine from
CD or from my own laptop or any other PC. However, have a laptop at church
that will NOT play any music tracks with accompanying presentations unless
they are played from CD OR loaded direct to the desktop. Why on earth could
this be? Any clues? Many thanks.

I think we probably need more information here -- I can't exactly tell what
the problem is based on your description. You mentioned a presentation CD
that plays on all PCs, but it won't play on the church laptop -- but the
church laptop won't play any music tracks unless they're played from CD. So
does the music play from the presentation CD or not? Or are we talking about
two different CDs? I'm confused.

Remember, we can't see what you're doing there, so you have to be our eyes.

Maybe the church laptop speakers are turned off.

Hi (sorry). Speakers on. No problem. Track will play with the presentation
it's linked to if I play it FROM the CD directly but the music track won't
play IF I load both the ppt and the track onto the laptop itself. Even if I
load both files onto laptop and set the link up again using Insert Sounds
etc, music doesn't play. It will play fine (with music) on ANY other laptop
or PC I care to use it on. Could there be some central setting on this
laptop somewhere that stops it playing linked music tracks from the hard
drive or something?

I can't really think of anything that would cause this. I'd say if it plays
from the CD, then I wouldn't worry too much about it.
