Music tasks - won't play

When I open a folder with only MP3 files and use "play all"
in Music tasks, I am given a message "Unable to find
playable file" This didn't happen yesterday. I tried
restoring to earlier date but it didn't help. Can I fix
this without having to reformat drive? What could I have
done to cause this?

Whoa, don't re-format unless you really have to. First of all make sure your
software is up to date - XP, WMP9, DirectX9b plus the drivers for your sound
card whilst your at it.

Your mp3 files could well be corrupted or the mp3 codec could be. Try
downloading the codecs from here :

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/format/codecdownload.aspx

Do your wave files play ok ? Try using WInAmp 2.91 - its free - and see if
that helps things.

Cheers,
Jerry
