mup.sys hangup on boot

During a reboot today my system had a hangup. It did the same thing when booting into safe mode. It seemed to be hanging up at mup.sys driver. I found a post that said to disable the mup.sys driver. I did that and now it hangs in ndis.sys. I don't want to make things worse. There are files in My Docs that I need to retrieve. Any suggestions? Thanks!

This is a common misconception when booting into Safe Mode. Mup.sys is
simply the last file loaded. When you disabled that file, then the next file
in the loading order is shown (ndis.sys).

Copy the following URL and paste it into the address bar of the browser.

Hi!

Thank you Ronnie for your useful hint, needed and applied first now in Dec ...

The crash problem source may not actually be the mup.sys, even easily
assumed, but some driver loading just after in a second or two without any
note/message ... On my case I have now been checking already several
potential problem components without finding the real source, but will keep
on checking until convinced about it ...

Best regards,

Pete V.
