Multiple e-mail accounts

I am trying to use Outlook 2003 for our home e-mail, contacts and calendar.
My husband and I want separate mailboxes. In other programs I have been able
to set up an "account" with his e-mail address and on for my address. In
trying to do this in Outlook 2003, it seems to require a Microsoft Exchange
Server which we don't have -- we use Road Runner. Isn't there a way to have
2 different mailboxes?

Exchange is not required to provide separation of users. However, you
never mentioned what version of Windows you use. If it is an NT-based
version of Windows (NT4, 2000, or XP) then you should be using accounts
to separate your users' data (each gets their profile path with
permissions that prevent users from accessing each other's data and to
provide separate accounts like you want in Outlook). If you are using a
version of Windows that has no real concept of security (Windows 9x/ME)
then you need to use separate mail profiles. Use the Mail applet in
Control Panel to define another mail profile for your spouse. Do NOT
select a default mail profile or that is the one automatically selected
when you start Outlook. Instead do not select a default whereupon you
will get prompted when starting Outlook as to which mail profile you
want to use. If you want further separation and protection from each
other on an insecure version of Windows, you cannot password-protect the
mail profiles but you can password-protect the PST file (right-click on
the root node in the Folders List tree pane, Properties, and add a
password - and make sure you remember it but use something the other
person won't guess).

On top of Vanguard's excelent advice, you also need to make sure that your
emails are actually separate email addresses and NOT aliases of the one
username, otherwise you will run into other problems.
