Multiple Contacts with Video/Audio???

TrevorM

Hi guys,

I was trying to set up a video/audio conference between three people and
for the life of me I couldn't get it to work. I could share the video feed
from my webcam to everyone but when I clicked on the "Audio" button, I could
only get ONE contact to hear the audio from my microphone, the others who
can see the video could not hear me. I am using MSN Messeger 6.0 so when I
click Audio, I got a message saying I cannot have more than one audio
conference when one is running. Is there something wrong with my end or
does MSN Messenger not do "true" video/voice conferencing? I am connected
via a D-Link DI-713P wireless router and the firmware updates say that it is
UPnP compatible. I hope I can get some help with this. If MSN doesn't
work, can anyone let me know of any other software that is free and can
share video AND audio with MULTIPLE contacts? I even tried Netmeeting and I
can only share video/audio with the first person who joined the conference.
Thanks!

I was thinking, is there a way to stream video/audio to the internet so
that at least the participants can see and hear? I'm guessing Windows Media
Encoder can do this? They don't need to actually speak back, but that would
be nice. :)

Greetings Trevor,

No they can't, MSN Messenger, Windows Messenger and Netmeeting (without a MCU) can only do
one-on-one 'conferencing'. As for another [free] product that can do this, Yahoo Messenger
can, albeit the quality is poor:
http://messenger.yahoo.com.

Hi Trevor,

Yes, the encoder can do this (supports up to 10 connections without using a Windows Media
server):
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/9series/encoder/

You can try "OOPS iSee" Software .It comprises of two parts: iSee
Client (that runs on Windows) and tcast server (that runs on Linux
).You need to run the "tcast" server to which multiple "iSee" clients
can connect.

The iSee client can be downloaded from http://isee.enmail.com
Download requires free registration.

The tcast server can be downloaded from:
http://tenet.res.in/isee/isee_0.71i/tcast_0.71i.zip
Help Document can be downloaded from:
http://tenet.res.in/isee/isee_0.71i/iSee_README.pdf

This is a "beta version" product that offers free evaluation.
