multimedia audio controller

hello, im new in here, but ive had window vista for about 3 months now
starting from the beta 2, and now i have RC1, and ive had this problem with
both versions. i get no audio out of the computer, and when i go to device
manager and under "other devices" it shows multimedia audio controller and it
seems like windows can not find the driver for it. the sound card is a
realtek HD and i downloaded the latest vista driver from their site, but i
still get no audio out of the computer. anyone has any suggestions?

You may need to tick enable SPDIF to get your sound working. Also try
updating the driver now you have one installed - within the driver
properties you can update. You will then get the latest Microsoft signed
driver which may work better.

If you have two sound cards (i.e. If you have one plugged into the PCI slot
inside the computer, but also one built into the motherboard) then you need
to goto "Playback Devices and make sure that your sound card you want to
used is selected as default. That happened to me too and I realized that was
the problem.
