MSXML

My old computer running windows 98 crashed so I re-installed Win 98 over the
top (in the same directory) and to my surprise most everything worked fine.
Yesterday, I tried to play MS Age of Mythology on the same PC but I got the
error message that MSXML was missing. I re-installed the game - no joy. I
tried to download MS XML 4.0 service pack from the MS website but the
installation failed. Tried Windows Update but it didn't come up as an option
to install. Does anyone know where/how I can repair the PC with respect to
MS XML?

I know this is an XP newsgroup and this message refers to a Windows 98
machine but I am now typing on a machine running XP :)

Thanks, I tried the top link which led me again back to downloading MS XML
4.0 - the version I apparently need. However, the installation failed again.
Some sort of command line parameter problem when installing the .msi file.
I think the Windows installer should install the msi file without further
input - but no.

I don't want to format the disk and re-install everything but I can't see
what other options there are.
