reader_sl.exe is a process associated the with the Adobe Reader. It is used
to decrease the load time for the reader when a PDF document is selected.
This is a non-essential process. Disabling or enabling it is down to user
preference.

MSVCP71.dll = Microsoft® C++ Runtime Library and belongs in
C:\WINDOWS\system32.

Chances are that MSVCP71.dll is right were it belongs.

Dump Adobe Reader and get Foxit Reader. Foxit Reader does not need extra
programs running to make it start faster.

Foxit Reader for Windows

<quote>
Foxit Reader is the only eligible alternative reader/viewer for PDF files
(eBooks). It's smaller, faster, and cleaner. And it's free.

You don't need to go through lengthy installation process to start using
Foxit Reader, just UNZIP the downloaded "foxitreader.zip" package into any
place you want, then run FoxitReader.exe.

You can set Foxit Reader as your default PDF reader, so you can double click
on PDF files to open them within Foxit Reader.

If you want to uninstall Foxit Reader, please remove all Foxit Reader files.
If you want to switch default PDF reader back to your previous reader,
please run the other reader (e.g. Adobe Reader) you have, and set it as the
default reader.

Start | Run | Type: system32 | Click OK |

Look for MSVCP71.dll.

Yes it's in system32 because as I said I reinstalled it in my first post . I
checked and it says it's there but still getting same error and I went into
everything I could find and deleted adobe. Should I go back into system32
folder and delete MSVCP71.dll

Maybe it needs to be registered so reader_sl.exe can load it. Click
Start, Run, type:

REGSVR32 MSVCP71.dll (Click OK.)

Restart and see if that stops the error.

You could also look for reader_sl.exe in the registry and remove it.
That would keep it from attempting to load MSVCP71.dll.

Thanks for the tip on FOXIT READER. I've installed it and it works lie a
charm. Now I should uninstall Adobe 7 but when I try to do so with the "add
or remove programs" function I get messages to the effect that it cannt be
rermoved. I've tried the remedies suggested by the Adobe website but none
seems to work. Any adeas as to what I should do to eliminate Adobe 7 from my
computer?
