Im trying to get rid of it Triple X Dread, i scanned using ad-aware and spyware doctor, and they havent done anything.
upon start-up, anti-vir detects DR/Dyfuca.db.2, and it comes up with 2 warnings. im scanning using anti-vir now. will that get rid of it?

ps that was me who caught the virus and spammed you last night:blush: :(

You can try AVG antispyware Michael, that seems to be very good, 30 free trial with all bells and whistles. :thumb:

Have a look in the Pc software thread for details.

I'm not laughing, honest, I'm not. :)

michael ... this is Spy Sheriff, I would get rid of it if I were you. :thumb:

C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\winstall.exe

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Alcmtr] ALCMTR.EXE ... this is "classed" as Spyware by many

AntiVir is quite capable of getting rid of DR/Dyfuca.db.2 ... can you tell me EXACTLY what AntiVir is saying ... I suspect you have not turned off system restore and DR/Dyfuca.db.2 is residing in the Temp folder. ;)

No need to install another AV program when ALL the major contenders have on-line scanners you could use for a second oppinion. :thumb:

 Okay, well everytime i boot up the alert comes up and tells me about the virus, and what i should do.. delete, quarantine etc. whatever i click on it goes away (note, its either always quarantine or delete, not ignore) but then whenever i start up again the message reappears. I managed to get into safe mode, into the command bit, but it seems to have hidden itself from there, and it duplicates itself *i think*.

I have scanned with antivir, with a general scan and a specific scan to where the alert message says the virus is residing.

Think thats about it

Sorry, but I expected AntiVir to say "where" the "problem" is ...

Does AntiVir say something like ...
C:\Documents and Settings\yournamehere\Local Settings\Temp\Installer.exe

... if it does, then simply turn off System Restor, reboot, re-enable system restore ... you will loose all restore points.

Try CC to clear out rubbish or simply go delete, via safe mode, the offendin location. ;)

Have you used one of the on-line scanners ? :)

Yes it does, thats where the path is.

I have just done a CC, and all is well.
In safe mode, I went to the location, and it wasnt there.

I'll do the system restore now then :D

and i'm about to do an online scan with Kapersky, as you reccomended David in the thead with his homepaged being mucked about..

Right be back soon, i'll post the details...

Oops sorry, worded that incorrectly... my mistake:blush: :D

I turned off system restore, rebooted, turned it back on, and the alert came up again.

Are you running SBS&D ?? If so ...

Run SBS&D in Advanced Mode, If it is not already set to do this, Go to the Mode menu select "Advanced Mode"
On the left hand side, Click on Tools
Then click on the Resident Icon in the List
Uncheck "Resident TeaTimer" and OK any prompts.
Restart your computer.

Again, turn off System Restore, and leave it off till we get this little bugger.

Because you also seem to have SpySheriff, if not now you did, we may need the help of Smitfruadfix ... and some others.

Have a look in "add & remove programs" for anything suspicious.

Also, download & install Process Explorer it is better than using msconfig. ;)

Post me another HJT log file please ... :thumb:

Mike, I have to go out today, won't be back till late, if at all today ... may have to continue this tomorrow.

Unless someone else has any bright ideas. :D
