MS Wheel Mouse on serial port problem

hello all

I've just upgraded my very old (500mhz P3) PC to XP Home but I can't
get my mouse to work. I've got a Microsoft PS/2 Wheel Mouse plugged
into the (only) serial port via the PS/2 > Serial adapter which came
with the mouse. XP thinks there's nothing plugged into it and no
amount of 'Add New Hardware' will convince it.

I'm stuck with this mouse beacuse I don't have a PS/2 or USB port on
my motherboard (don't laugh), plus I can't even add a PCI > USB card
because I've only got one PCI slot, which my network adapter is in...

I've seen various answers to this, which range from 'XP doesn't
support serial mice' to 'my serial mouse works fine with XP' - so I
have no idea what the solution is.

any ideas?

thanks
Andy

Try a serial to PS2 adapter. I found one on a pricewatch.com search at the following URL. I have no affiliation with eithe
pricewatch or this website, but I do use pricewatch to find hardware and software
