How do I change the mouse wheel settings?

I recently downloaded foldit (a science "game" - http://fold.it) in which the
mouse wheel is used as a button to lock elements in the protein. However, I
was unaware that my mouse wheel was set to do something else. This image
shows what happens when the mouse wheel button is clicked:

Is there a way I can turn this setting off so that the mouse wheel works
properly in foldit? I've searched the internet and the computer, and I can't
seem to find the answer.

Go to start -> Control Panel-> Mouse -> and click on all of the tabs until
you find the place to set the setting for the mouse wheel. You can set the
wheel to scroll and you can push the wheel like a button also.
