MS Streets & Trips 2006 Problem

I received MS Streets & Trips 2006 from Gateway as part of MS Works Suite
2006 with my new computer.

After installing and trying to access, I received the following error message:
"Your registry settings for this application were not copied correctly. To
correct these settings, run setup again for this application from the
location where you originally installed it."

After uninstalling/re-installing failed, I contacted Gateway. I was told
that the only way to access MS Streets & Trips 2006 was to 'Turn Off User
Account Control'.
Doing this requires a re-start of the system.

I was able to access MS Streets & Trips 2006 in this manner.

This is clearly an issue. Is there another way to access this program
without turning off UAC? Is MS aware of this issue?

You're not alone. I have the same exact problem, and receive the same exact
message with MS Streets & Trips 2005. I have to log on as Administrator to
use this program. It would be nice if someone here could offer us a better
alternative...other than going out and buying MS Streets & Trips 2007.

Try right clicking on the icon and select run as administrator.

I agree with John's answer you can modify the shortcut to always run as
administrator and if you want, you can set it to run in XP compatibility
mode as well.

Dale & John - Thank you, I created a short-cut icon, right clicked, and was
able to open as administrator.

Unfortunately the Administrator option is grayed out and has an empty
checkbox, and "Run in separate memory space" is checked. As a result, I am
not able to change this as you advised. I actually have to log in as
Administrator to run the program. Any ideas?

"XP compatibility? " This mode is not available as a "Properties" option.

I've looked under all the shortcut icon "Properties" tabs. Where is this
supposed to be at?

Never mind. I found the options as described. My problem was that I was
clicking on the shortcut icon rather than the actual application icon.
