Immediately after running MS Spyware Beta 1 I ran the freeware SpyBot . MS
Spyware should no infections, SPyBt picked up six malicious infections. Has
anyone else noticed that SpyBot appears more efficient comapred to MS's
program?

Exactly what was found?

Spybot S&D is probably all finding cookies on your system which MS
Antispyware at this stage doesnt scan for.

If it was really spyware then MS Antispy would detect some part of it when
it scanned, Microsoft already offer's alot of choice regarding cookies and
they are not a threat to your system as they contain no code.

Clear all your cookies then test the other applications and see if they
still find prºblems.

You can delete cookies easily by going to start menu > C:/drive > Documents
and Settings > YourUsername > Cookies and opening that folder.
Delete any you dont want from there.

Another option is open a IE browser window and go to
tools on the top bar, choose Internet Options then press delete cººkies.

Third option is from the same page (Internet Options) press the Privacy Tab
and click Advanced - Here you can block and restrict cookies getting onto the
system but they are very usefull to remember settings & usernames on sites so
only restrict third party cookies if you use that optiºn.

If you think the other applications are finding that MS Antispy isnt
detecting then post the scan results from each scªnner.

For Spybot, click Recovery to list what has been removed except cººkies

I ran an online scan from Ewido on my desktop machine last night. I was
referring somebody else to their software, so I figured I should try it out
myself.

It found 48 tracking cookies, and one high threat--which was a program I
have lying around on the desktop which allows the current user to see what
is in the current users protected storage--i.e. passwords stored by the
current user.

I blew away the tracking cookies, but I certainly wouldn't spend money on an
app just to get that service performed.

I guess nobody's convinced me yet about just how nefarious these cookies
could be.

Also, you need to try LavaSoft Ad-Aware if any of these don't work.
Otherwise, you need to get a paid software. After all, the paid does a better
job than the freebies, and you can't blame MS AntiSpyware because it is in a
beta phase!
