MS Spyware

My pc recently came under attack from a spybot and
w32.pinfi
I managed to use the recovery disc and got everything back
up and working.
I updated Norton Firewall and also Antivirus (Norton Sytem
works)scanned system no virus or spybots detected
Downloaded the XP service pack 2, again all okay then
downloaded the MS spyware my pc now reboots like all is
normal but within minutes it shuts down and reboots.

Does anyone have an answer how to stop this happening or
do I have to recover the system again.

I hope there is an easy answer.

If you are in the US or Canada, I would recommend calling 1-866-pcsafety.

This will get you free help from Microsoft Product Support staff for
virus-related or security-patch related problems.

Your issue certainly qualifies for this and you'd be better off with direct
phone help than with these groups.

Unfortunately I am in the UK, can I try safe mode, does
this disable MS spyware so I can then delete it from my
hard drive.

Equivalent help is available worldwide. Call your local Microsoft
subsidiary or look up number to call for paid Microsoft help via their web
site. You may be able to use the number for paid help. In some parts of
the world the call will not be free, but the help will be.
