idviualy. the virus and firewall was off. bur always gete the 646 error.

Here's my standard message on multiposting:

Please do not send the same message separately to more than one
newsgroup (called multiposting). Doing so just fragments the thread,
so someone who answers in one newsgroup doesn't always get to see

Hi there gene...

I NEED help with this 646 error code as well. The updates to Microsoft
Office fail...I have rebooted several times and cannot get this done. Any
Ideas? I am not a computer whiz either. Thanks so MUCH for your help.

It seems like this Error 646 for KB982331 is only happening for Windows
Vista and Windows 7 Users. Here's our recommended steps to fix such issue:

1. Turn off AUC. Don't just lower down the restrictions - turn it off
completely.
2. Restart your computer for the change to take into effect.
3. Re-download Security Update for the 2007 Microsoft Office System
(KB982331) from the link below:

4. Install it.

Dear, As suggested I again tried to download updates and again it was failed
and error was 646 I have tried in past so many times. Please advise me. or to
download automatically will be better. What you suggest.
