MS Movie Maker without SP2?

I have WinXpPro with SP1 fully installed, and am running version 1.something
of movie maker.
My brother has the same (SP1) but is running Movie Maker 2.something.

I want to be able to update my Movie Maker, but it seemingly is only
available in SP2 now.

Why is it not available as a seperate download?
I have had umpteen problems installing SP1 which took well over 10 hours on
my standard dialup line (56k) and do not really want to upgrade to SP2 which
looks like it will create more problems than it will solve anyway, and it
seems to only be available online now whereas it used to be available on CD
orderable from Microsoft.

I am fast losing patience. When I scan for updates, the MS site only lists
SP2 as a block update of 75Mb and does not let me select which parts if any
I wish to update. The SP1 does list more updates I am supposedly in need of
(though why beats me) even after I have already implememted all of SP1. I
thought MS stopped updating the SP1 once SP2 was in operation.

Movie Maker 2 is only available when SP2 is installed.
There are no workarounds to circumvent this requirement
since it requires the updated system files installed with SP2.

Gosh what a speedy response!
I only posted this five minutes ago.

Thanks for the feedback - groan another huge telephone bill whilst I spend
all night updating to SP2, and then another night downloading new drivers
which will then be required when my sound card fails or the screen fails -
GROAN!
