MS IE 6 Freezes after second link clicked

I am running MS XP Home on 2.3mhz Dell Pentium. 80 Gig left on 120G
hard drive. 1 gig Ram.

Out of the blue, MS IE v6.0.228 locks up after the second link is
clicked. Need to CTL+ALT+DEL to get out of IE.

Even more strange (to me anyway) I went to Settings/Control Panel/Add
or RemovePorgrams and IE is not listed.

I have run updated Adware and SpyBot and my virus checker.

Now what? Thanks for any advice.

Do you have Yahoo! Toolbar installed?

If not, use the Manage Add-ons in IE6 SP2 to disable 3rd party add-ons one
at a time to isolate the problem.

No advice except for installing SP2? I don;t understand how that
would l help my problem. Would it?

Would you please read my response again? When did I ask you to install SP2
(though SP2 is highly recommended update for several reasons)?
