I have MS Excel 97

How to merge 2 or more MS excel Sheets ?

MS Excel Sheets...how to copy and paste one excel sheet into another?

I've tried this like I would normally do with Notepad or Word and it
says:

The information cannot be pasted because the Copy area and the paste
area are not the same size and shape. Try one of the following:

..Click a single cell and then paste.
..Select a rectangle that's the same size and shape, and then paste.

I tried everything but I cannot do a simple cut and paste.

can anyone please help me

Thanks in advance,

Tina

Tina;

Did you try this:

Select the whole sheet ( CTRL + A ) and copy it.
Select cell A1 in the new sheet and click paste.

Yes, there is data on both pages.
Each list is about 100 rows...5 columns..not a lot of info.

I want the new list to be pasted after the the first list.
If it does paste it. It pastes it at the top/beginning of the list. I
want the new list to be pasted at the end of the first list. And when
I do this the first list disappears.

It only seems to allow me to paste at the very first cell which means
the old list gets deleted.

Can anyone pls. help me.

Hi Mark,

What I want is that the data to be copied gets pasted at the bottom of
the first list..like a continuation of the first list. But it doesn't
allow me to do so.

When I do what you suggested, the new data gets pasted but the first
list disappears. I need both lists one after the other. I need to
continue adding to the list every so often.

When I point to the cell where I want the second list to be pasted...I
get the error message:

****************
The information cannot be pasted because the Copy area and the paste**********************************

Why is this happening ?

I just want to be able to do a simple cut and paste.

Can you pls. HELP ?

Thanks

Tina

Aaaahhhh, maybe the light is dawning here - Are you by any chance copying the whole sheet and
trying to paste at the bottom of your existing table of data. If so, you will not be able to do
this. Try copying just the portion of the sheet you want to copy (eg A1:K2000), and then paste it
under your existing list. If you were trying to do as I said, the problem you will have is that
you are copying 65,536 rows, and then trying to past eit into an area that doesn't have 65,536
rows left, because you started part way down the page. If you tried to paste to cell A1000, you
would only have about 64,536 rows left, so what you copied would not fit in there.

Tina,

I might be oversimplifying this but if two spreadsheets
are not the exact same size you get this message. 2
solutions:
1) Make both spreadsheets exactly the same. Take one,
copy the whole spreadshhet as a template, and put your
info in. It should match up cell to cell.

2) Try copying whole rows from your second list and
inserting them at the bottom of your first list. To do
so, you would need to be in Column A (any row).

Hope this is what you are talking about and it helps.

John
