MS Antispyware fails to remove dangerous spyware

B

Bob

Anyone heard of SurfSidekick? It somehow got installed on
my XP system and Antispyware (def. 5757) detected it but
failed to remove it. Moreover, in the meantime,
SurfSidekick seems to have installed other viruses and
spyware which likewise cannot be removed, although they
are detected.

Finally, I tried to send the scan report to MS but even
that failed, with the message "Error occurred submitting
the scan results. Please check your Internet proxy
settings and try again". Needless to say, I don't use a
proxy.

What's going on and how do I deaal with this?

The Proxy Report issue is a bug in the beta program and
will hopefully be repaired by the next beta release, For
SurfSideKick first try removing it from add/remove screen
then scan in safe mode (reboot and keep tapping F8 then
choose safe mode from the list)

if you have problems download Ewido and Ccleaner,

Download Ewido

http://www.ewido.net/en/download/

Install ewido.
During the installation, under "Additional Options"
uncheck "Install background guard" and "Install scan via
context menu".
Launch ewido
It will prompt you to update click the OK button and it
will go to the main screen
On the left side of the main screen click update
Click on Start and let it update.
DO NOT run a scan yet. You will do that later in safe
mode.

Download Ccleaner

http://www.ccleaner.com/ccdownload.asp

Reboot into safe mode (Reboot and tap F8 and choose safe
mode)

Open Add/Remove screen and remove SurfSideKick

Run Ewido and choose scanner then Complete System Scan
During the scan it will prompt you to clean files, click
remove for each

(When it finishes scanning it will give some options at
the bottom of the screen, choose save report and save it
to your desktop)

Run MSAS on a full scan and remove anything found

Run Ccleaner and press "Run cleaner"

Then Reboot back to normal mode

I have had the same problem. Every day my computer
cleans this thing out, but every time it is back again.
This morning I scanned my computer three times in a row.
Each time it found and removed this stupid SurfSideKick,
but it does not block it from getting back on the puter
again. So I am in the same boat. Anybody have any
answers? I don't want to try to go in and remove this
manually, but I am wondering if that is the only thing
that will work now.
I need answers to this one too.
