Moving clips b/w projects

I have transferred old 8mm home movies to MM using WMM format. I want to
move clips b/w different projects. I am doing this by cut/pasting the clips.
How do I insert the clips into the middle of the other clips with the other
project?

If you want to insert a clip in the middle of another clip - split the other
clip and put the parts in the order they'd go. (I'm talking in the timeline
here)

I don't think there is a way to rearrange clips in the collection to sort in
an arbitrary order.
