movie is slow

I have a problem that I cant figure out. I just load an .avi movie into a
powerpoint (2007). when i "preview" the movie, it play fine. but when i
actually run the presentation and click the movie to play, it plays really,
really really slow. I tried converting to a mpeg, and it does the same thing.
the movie itself is fine. I can watch it using windows media player just
fine. is there a setting I'm missing?
