movie files .avi in PPT2003

Hi,
I have tried to link .avi files into my powerpoint 2003 presentation without
success. My files play in the MCI player and Media player very well. After
linking them (in the same folder) to a slide they go black. I have stored the
entire folder on my C drive with a short pathway. What am I doing wrong?

Did you have everything in the short path folder when you inserted them?

Try to transform your AVI files into WMV and insert the wmv file (many free
soft on the web). Does that work fine?

I have tried that as well. After inserting the wmv file into my presentation
it goes baclk when I play it.

Yes, i had all the .avi files & the ppt file in the same folder. I can work
it if i copy and paste the avi file onto the slide. However this does not
work on other computers/pen drives.
