hi there

i use moviemaker 2.1 (sp2 version) and windows xp on a ibm thinkpad t41.

i have the problem when i use wmm, i make an input of a video-sequence, then
i put in a video-transition in the storyboard and add a new video-sequence
again.

my problem is, when i play the movie (in the wmm), the movie just stopps
after the first video-transition. the sound in the background is still
continuing but the movie doesnt.

very very strange

Hello
It sounds to me like the 2nd clip, and possibly the first as well if you got
lucky and it played, is/are MPEG or MPEG2 files.
If this is the case convert them to AVI and try again.

- we also tested it on another notebook, it works fine. so i think its realy
a problem on the computer..

- the file is wmv

- i already tried to save the file. when i play it, it also stucks at the
same scenes! but the sound in the background continues... and when i forward
the movie a bit it playes on until the next transition and then it stucks
again

personally i think its not a problem with moviemaker himself, or only with
the installed transitions. but it could be many things...

maybe a:

- codec-problem = already tested some codecs from multi-packs like nemo,
tsunami filters and so on...

- directx = i started "dxdiag" in run and made some tests, no problems

- windows updates = everything uptodate (sp2)

- the user has local admin rights

- tested other movie-files, same problem

Hi again D, I don't know if you solved this one yet or not since I haven't
been able to be here in a few days but lets take another look.

Are the transitions ones that came with Movie Maker or ones you installed
later?

It could be a codec problem since you seem to get the same results with all
WMV files telling me that it isn't likely to be an indexing problem with the
file itself.
The best thing you can do here is go to: http://www.free-codecs.com/ and
download the windows XP Codec pack and see if that solves the problem.

hi

no the problem isn't solved yet ;(

i tried to make a movie on a pc that works and played it with transitions on
a comptuer where wmm doesn't work correctly. the movie played perfectly!

then i made a movie on this pc where moviemaker stucks. saved it and played
it on the computer where moviemaker doesn't have any problems. the movie
stucked at the transitions!

so it can only be a problem on the computer where moviemaker stops after one
transitions... can i reinstall this transitions?

ps. i also tried this compatibility pad, didnt work..

Hi again
Well reinstalling the transitions likely wouldn't do any good since they are
really only text files basically.
The problem isn't likely to be with the transitions themselves unless they
are custom ones you downloaded that just wee not written properly. It is
more likely that there is a problem with a codec like I suggested. Did you
go to http://www.free-codecs.com/ and download the Windows XP Codec pack?
