Move messages and loose source

I was moving messages from my "Sent" folder to several subfolders under
"Sent". All of the messages lost the name of the originator/author and put
my email address in. Now every message is from me and not family, friends or
associates.
What did I do wrong and what can be done to correct this?

OOPS. I did find the problem, it was me. I was unaware of the "switch"
to/from.
