Can't receive messages

On the 26th I was working fine on Windows Mail. At the end of the day when
closing out of Mail it asked if I wanted to compact messages, i've seen this
several times in the past week. So I clicked yes. I haven't been able to
receive messages since. When I hit the send receive button the green line
appears to start downloading messages, gets half way and stops but doesn't
give me an error message. Please help. I use earthlink and spoke with them
yesterday and checked all the settings, sent a test email from my account
address, received it back. Great right, but still none of my regular emails
for our business are coming through.

Can you check your mail from here...

https://webmail.earthlink.net/wam/login.jsp?redirect=/wam/index.jsp&x=-1470568818&x=910549953

What I would suggest first it that you do that, delete any junk and
funky looking messages you know you don't want and then try your
ordinary mail again. Also try again with your anti virus turned off, at
least any part of it that "Scans" incoming mail. Most AV software can
try to scan email but this is a known cause of trouble with some mail
clients and it is best not to use it because it really adds no more
protection.

It may be a corrupted mail store, but try the above first in case it's
simply a bad message that's nothing more than coincidence.

If not please state what email client you are using (Mail, Live Mail
etc) and what AV you run.

Thanks for your help, my web hosting company has a problem with their
forwarding email this week and they are trying to correct it. Turned out not
to be a problem with anything I was doing. Thanks for the reply

Glad you found the problem, I wondered when you said the test mail went
through and would hate you to go to a lot of trouble fixing a problem
that wasn't there. Thanks for replying with the solution too, that is
helpful to others.
